West Coast Mental Health Facility
Working for the main contractor, Finesse Painting & Decorating were engaged to carry out the full plasterboard fix, stopping and painting package to the interior and exterior. CCM Architects needed a durable and good looking paint product for the application. Their colour palette was designed to be calming and add life to the health facility. With extra care and attention to the feature walls, the results speak for themselves.
The brief
West Coast Health is the Primary Health Organisation funding and delivering primary care, counselling, health navigation, and support services across the West Coast region. The new mental health facility represents a significant investment in local healthcare infrastructure for a community that has historically had limited access to specialist services. The painting and plastering scope delivered by Finesse spanned the full interior and exterior of a two-storey building, covering gib fixing, stopping to Level 4, painting, and specialist coatings across nearly 1,900 square metres of floor area.
The work
The interior scope covered gib fixing and stopping to Level 4 across both floors, painting to walls, ceilings, doors, and trims throughout, and 68 doors finished in Lustacryl. The colour palette was led by Resene Sea Fog across the majority of the building, with Fuji Green, Ayres Rock, and Equator used as accent colours in specified areas. Dry walls were finished in Clinical Cote Satin, wet areas in Spacecote systems, and oak crash rails in three coats of Aquaclear Satin.
The exterior scope covered cedar batten screens, fibre cement cladding, soffits, fascia, courtyard render walls, a canopy steel structure, and full road marking throughout the site. Working in a health environment requires careful product selection. Clinical Cote Satin is specified for its washability and durability under frequent cleaning regimes, and the palette was chosen to create a calm environment suited to the nature of the building.
