Commercial / Painting, decorating, and protective coatings
Trusted by New Zealand's leading contractors and project teams. Because we deliver on our word.
Proactive communication. Transparent pricing. Dependable delivery. Nationwide.

Architects, quantity surveyors, body corporates, hospitality operators, and main contractors need a painting contractor who understands a specification, works around live environments, and delivers inside the agreed timeframe. That is who we are.
A team of 50+ across New Zealand, with established local crews in Queenstown, Wellington, Blenheim, Nelson, and the West Coast. The same standard, wherever the project is.
Painting (interior and exterior).
Interior and exterior painting across all commercial environments. We work to architect and QS specifications, agree colour and finish in writing, and deliver to a consistently high standard across every surface and every site.
Decorative and specialty finishes.
Hospitality and premium interiors often call for something beyond a standard finish. We've applied Porter's French Wash over Porter's Low Sheen 'Oaten' at Toast and Oak in Queenstown, and a custom rust-effect paint system at Fancy Cow in Blenheim. Every decorative finish is sampled on site before it goes on the wall.
Plastering.
Painting and plastering handled by one Finesse team. Our Master Plasterers NZ certified team works across commercial sites with the same standard and communication as our painting crews. No waiting on separate contractors, no gaps between trades, just one team responsible for the result.
Protective coatings.
Protective coatings are a different scope to standard painting. Steel, industrial substrates, and high exposure environments require the right system, applied correctly, and backed by a manufacturer warranty. We hold certified applicator status for the systems we specify. Every application is documented, so the asset is protected and the warranty holds.
AluLuxe aluminium joinery rejuvenation.
Replacing aluminium joinery across a commercial building can be costly and disruptive. AluLuxe is our hand-applied coating service that renews the colour and protection of existing aluminium joinery, doors, and cladding without the cost or disruption of full replacement. No overspray on occupied sites, minimal downtime, and a finish built to handle New Zealand's conditions. A practical option for facilities managers and asset owners looking to maintain their building without a major capital spend.
Working alongside main contractors.
Main contractors need a contractor they can rely on. One that communicates before they need to ask, prices transparently, and delivers without creating problems for the trades around them. We plan ahead, order materials in advance, and make sure we're site ready before we arrive. On site, we maintain clear communication throughout, work professionally alongside other trades, and hold ourselves to a high standard of QA from start to finish. Working in occupied environments is something we're experienced in. We plan carefully, communicate clearly, and minimise disruption at every stage. We know what main contractors need. That's why they keep working with us.
Maintenance programmes.
We offer scheduled maintenance programmes that keep buildings in good condition year round. Proactive inspections at twelve or six month intervals, a written report on anything that needs attention, and touch-ups and corrective work quoted transparently from the same rate card. The goal is to stay ahead of deterioration, not catch up with it.
Accreditations and partners.
Finesse is a member of Master Painters New Zealand and Master Plasterers New Zealand. Our Managing Director, Peter Dalman, serves on the Canterbury executive board for Master Painters NZ, reflecting our active role in the industry. We are also a recognised Resene Eco.Decorator, acknowledged for our consistent quality, sustainable painting practices, and responsible site management across every project we take on.
Regions.
Nationwide, one set of standards. Established local crews across New Zealand, including Queenstown, Wellington, Blenheim, Nelson, and the West Coast.
Process
A process without surprises.
01Tender.
We take the time to understand the full scope before we price. Itemised, transparent quotes that give you a clear picture of what's included and what it costs.
02Planning.
We plan ahead so there are no surprises on site. Materials ordered, crews scheduled, and the specification confirmed in writing before work begins.
03Delivery.
We show up, we communicate, and we deliver to specification. Progress is visible throughout, and any variations are agreed in writing before they happen. No surprises on site and no surprises on the invoice.
04QA handover.
Our QA walkthrough happens before yours. Any items identified are resolved before sign-off. Manufacturer-backed warranty at handover, and the working relationship we build continues well beyond the project.
Request a written quote.
Tell us about the project. We will arrange a site walk inside the week and send a written quote, with the proposed system and programme attached.
