Commercial / Education and Public Sector

Education and public sector. Built for the community.

Education and public sector environments carry a responsibility that goes beyond the job itself. These are spaces where people learn, develop, and perform, and the standard of the environment reflects the standard expected within it. Finesse understands what it means to work within that context. Timing matters, the spaces matter, and maintaining a consistent standard across every visit matters. That understanding is reflected in our ongoing maintenance relationship with One NZ Stadium, also known as Te Kaha, one of New Zealand's most significant new civic venues.

Finesse has delivered across this sector at St Mary's School in Blenheim, Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre in Christchurch, and the West Coast Mental Health Facility in Greymouth. Each project ran to a fixed programme, a specific specification, and a standard that matched the expectations of the institution and the community it serves.

What stays consistent is how we approach the work. Planning around institutional calendars, coordinating closely with head contractors and facilities managers, and delivering documentation to the standard the client expects.

What we do in education and public sector

New-build institutional work

Universities, polytechnics, schools, and early childhood facilities. Specified Resene systems on plasterboard, blockwork, exposed precast, steel, and timber joinery. Coordination with the head contractor's master programme and the institution's commissioning date.

Refurbishment in working campuses

Repaints of corridors, classrooms, halls, libraries, and accommodation blocks scheduled into term breaks and holiday windows. Out-of-hours work where the brief requires it.

Institutional and public-sector procurment

Tendered work to public-sector standards with the documentation to match. Site reports, health and safety packs, induction records, and material data sheets delivered to the standard a facilities manager or head contractor expects to see at audit.

Sampling and colour matching

Public buildings require careful consideration before any product goes on the building. We visit the site, propose the colour match in writing, before any committed work begins.
